Wisconsin men’s basketball guard Max Klesmit misses his 2nd straight game

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team will play without one of its starters for the fifth time in the last six games when it faces Maryland on Wednesday.

Guard Max Klesmit is out for a second straight game because of a head injury suffered Jan. 17 against Penn State. Klesmit didn’t make the trip to Northwestern on Monday and coach Greg Gard said after a 66-63 losses it was unlikely that the junior would join the team at Maryland.

The Badgers have lost all four of the games they’ve played without one of their original starters. They were 0-3 without forward Tyler Wahl and added the loss to the Wildcats to that total.

UW’s expected starting lineup against the Terrapins includes Chucky Hepburn, Connor Essegian and Jordan Davis at guard and Wahl and Steven Crowl at forward. The Badgers played even with Northwestern with that group on the floor.

Klesmit has averaged 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 30 minutes per game.
